Coming Soon to Portugal: Two Humans, a Dog, and an Insane Amount of Luggage

So, you think you've had a busy week? Ha! We started the week frantically finishing packing up the house and loading up our suitcases. On Tuesday, after dropping off our cars and doing some final paperwork in Raleigh, we loaded up our rented Suburban and headed up to our hotel near Dulles Airport a day early to beat the snow storm. This is a picture of our bedroom just before leaving. It only shows a fraction of the luggage we are lugging.

Chili, the dog, has had very limited experience in cars or being anywhere other than where we live. She is making it perfectly clear that her life up to now has been terribly boring. She is having a blast. She particularly enjoyed all the trucks on the highway. She thinks our hotel room is swell. It makes me feel better about how she will react to the flight. I still think that one is going to come as a big surprise. Here she is transfixed by the snow falling on Wednesday.

Since taking our COVID tests, required to board the plane, yesterday, we have basically been hanging out, greeting Door Dash drivers, and napping.
Today we got the wonderful news, for many reasons, that both Will and I are negative for COVID-19! That was the second to last hoop to jump through before boarding our flight. The last one is going to be getting six suitcases, two carry-ons, a dog, and a dog crate to the airport. That will happen tomorrow around 5 p.m. Our flight to Lisbon is scheduled for 7:55 tomorrow night.
We want to thank everyone who has reached out, wished us well, and subscribed to this blog. Our leaving a day ahead of schedule made it impossible to say goodbye to everyone we wanted to.
Looks like the next update will be from our new home is Portugal.

Excellent news! Can’t wait to live vicariously through you 💜🤗
Excited to hear about the trip, how all 3 of you fared and see pics of the new neighborhood ❤️
Glad you are 'ahead' of the curve and C19 free! Chili will be fine as long as he is near you two. He's on this adventure with you and just as excited. Enjoy!
We look forward to seeing your new digs in Portugal.
I having been thinking of you! I pray Chili has a good flight 😊
We miss you Chili! Yah, and you too Will and dear Winnie. We are happy that you are all set to go with great news on Covid virus results. We are anxiously waiting to hear from you after you settle in your apartment. Love you!!!
